On February 1, 1923, a group of 13 compassionate women founded the Junior League of Tulsa (JLT) to make a difference in our city. Just three years prior, women had received the right to vote, but opportunities outside the home were still few. The Junior League provided a place for these women to grow their talents and give back to their city. 

Since 1923, JLT has provided volunteer leadership in more than 100 community projects in the areas of healthcare, education, social services, child abuse prevention, homelessness, domestic violence prevention, food insecurity, and many more. Examples of this work include: establishing the Convalescent Home for Crippled Children, later known as Children’s Medical Center; the Children’s Museum at Philbrook; Leadership Tulsa; the Natural History Museum at the Tulsa Zoo; Oxley Nature Center; Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS); Ronald McDonald House; Child Abuse Network (CAN); Mayfest; and many others.
